The Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute has released the field test results for the Hyperscratcher borehole cleanout tool. The Hyperscratcher Tool was tested in wells from various basins that had reported paraffin, scale and asphaltene build-ups that were adversely affecting production.
Initially designed in California in the 1980s, the Hyperscratcher tool was developed to remove wellbore debris to provide a clear path for production. The tool incorporates multiple cleaning methods including jets for spotting water, acid, or other chemicals and wire brushes for borehole casing cleaning.
Test results show use of the Hyperscratcher Tool significantly improved production in 7 of the 8 wells tested with production improvement varying from 20% to 120%.
